Coaches’ Corner

Coaches at SWW @ Francis Stevens play an instrumental part in the growth and development of our students. We commit to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our student athletes. Our coaches are passionate, positive, and professional. Their focus is to improve the student’s technical, tactical, physical, and mental skills while also building student character and self-esteem.

If you are interested in coaching a sport at SWW @ Francis Stevens, please contact athletic director, Phil Tavares, and send your resume to Coaching stipends are offered for DC Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) sanctioned sports.

DCIAA Coaching Certification Checklist:

  • Concussion Certification – Coaches must complete the online course, “Concussion in Sports,” offered through
  • Heat Acclimatization Certification – Coaches must complete the online course, “Heat Illness Prevention,” offered through
  • DCPS Coach’s Identification Card – Coaches must complete a background check and receive a DCPS identification card through DCPS Fingerprinting Office.
  • First-Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
  • DCIAA Coaches Agreement  This is completed with DCIAA directors.
  • DCIAA Rules Meeting This is completed with DCIAA and Officiating directors.
  • W-9 Tax Form W-9 Tax Form (for non-DCPS employees only)


DCPS Payment Forms:


All persons coaching within the DC Interscholastic Athletic Association must adhere to the guidelines set forth in the DCIAA Athletics Handbook.
