FoodPrints

Welcome to FoodPrints at School Without Walls at Francis Stevens!

Students are chefs, gardeners, scientists, and teammates in FoodPrints! During FRESHFARM FoodPrints ‘in-school field trips,’ students grow food in our school garden, cook & eat nutritious food, and learn in lessons tied to math, science, writing, and social studies. FoodPrints classes are implemented in 21 schools across the city and align with national and local DC standards. Students plant, care for, and harvest vegetables in the garden. They then use these veggies to cook nutritious recipes and eat the tasty food they make together. Ultimately, students will be prepared to safely work in the garden and kitchen so that they can engage in learning about food and the natural world around them.

All students will participate in monthly FoodPrints sessions this year – and we welcome volunteers. Look for FoodPrints dates from your classroom teacher or reach out to your FoodPrints teacher to volunteer with us.
