Greetings SWWFS Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!  I am truly thrilled to serve as your newly appointed principal as we enter this new academic year.

Our mission at the School Without Walls at Francis Stevens is to establish an educational environment where nurturing educators provide ALL students with rigorous, student-centered academic programming, that empowers them to be critical thinkers, risk-takers, and productive, global citizens.  I am humbled by the spirit of warmth and dedication of our faculty who are committed to our students reaching their maximum potential, driven by the unwavering support of our community.

The impact of the global pandemic prompted us to examine our approach and rededicate ourselves to building our school community by putting our students and families first. Throughout the summer, our leadership team has worked diligently to ensure that we have a strategic and comprehensive plan to support our school community as we return to in-person learning in August 2021.

With this announcement comes several changes to the way in which we will open school this year, and of course, the need to remain flexible as we navigate through these changes. However, one thing is certain, we will “reopen strong” and be prepared to tackle the learning disruptions our students have faced over the past year and a half.

The new school year brings about excitement as the doors of learning and opportunity open for our students.  Our commitment, whether in-person or virtually, is to ensure that every student receives a world-class, equitable education.

I look forward to leading the School Without Walls at Francis Stevens and partnering with our community to make the 2021-2022 school year fantastic.  Continue to remain safe and well.

Sincerely,

Shanna Young

SWWFS Principal
