Elementary

Our elementary school caters to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade with content teachers looping each year. Each grade band (K/1, ⅔, ⅘) of teachers works within a two-year partnership to develop the academic skills of their students with Math, Science, and Literacy blocks. Guided reading and math segments in the classroom, as well as other means of differentiated instruction opportunities, ensure that access is afforded to all student learners regardless of their academic starting point. Daily instruction from our elementary team is curated from the EUREKA Math, Fundations, and other DCPS curriculum. Elementary teachers utilize digital platforms such as Lexia & ST MATH which helps to personalize instruction and meet the demands of our 21st-century learners. All students in grades K-5 also receive Latin instruction, strengthening their vocabulary skills and knowledge of history. Learning beyond the walls of our classroom has allowed for our team to journey to places such as the Kennedy Center, National Zoo, Smithsonian Museums, Hard Bargain Farms with our partners at the Alice Ferguson Foundation and even to our Foodprints Kitchen and garden to prepare healthy recipes with our students.
