About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of The School Without Walls at Francis Stevens athletic department is to create a safe and enjoyable environment where we

  • Foster the development of our players, coaches, and supporters,

  • Honor every aspect of the sport, and

  • Demonstrate the characteristics of a productive and global citizen.

Our vision is to create a positive athletic experience that inspires players to be the best versions of themselves. We want our athletes to return to every practice and competition with excitement. We are a developmental organization that aims to motivate our players to grow. Our coaches and families will be supportive and encouraging. Our athletes will begin to own their development and lead with confidence.

Core Values

  • Teamwork - We prioritize team success and support each other with positive reinforcement.

  • Integrity - We emphasize the traits of honesty, empathy, and respect. These qualities prompt us to make the right decisions during challenging situations.

  • Grit - We have the courage to overcome adversity. We build physical, mental, and emotional toughness that enables us to persevere.

  • Equity - We recognize that everyone does not start from the same place. We advocate for all our athletes to achieve their goals while taking into account their unique circumstances.

  • Responsibility - We are personally accountable for our performance, actions, and development. We do not make excuses or blame others, whether in victory or defeat.

  • Spirit - We are confident in our abilities. We are proud to best represent our school, team, and ourselves.

SWWFS athletics offers sports through the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA). If we do not have your sport of choice, families are encouraged to join other established and refined athletic organizations within the district. Review the SWWFS Athletics Handbook for an full scope of our athletic department.
